The Climbing Academy - The Mothership is Bristol's premier dedicated bouldering centre, located on Barrow Road. Spanning a vast warehouse layout, the facility features hundreds of boulder problems across slabs, vert, overhangs, and severe roofs, regularly reset by experienced routesetters. Climbers can explore problems graded across standard circuit colours, complemented by dedicated training zones with MoonBoards, campus rungs, and free weights. The atmosphere is energetic and social, supported by an on-site cafe serving specialty coffee, savoury bites, and recovery snacks. New visitors can register online before arriving to streamline check-in, while regular climbers benefit from flexible monthly passes and punch cards. Whether you drop in for a quick morning circuit or an evening session with friends, the centre provides an authentic climbing hub for Bristol's active community.

The centre offers extensive bouldering walls over continuous safety matting, a dedicated training mezzanine with system boards and free weights, male and female changing rooms with hot showers, secure lockers, and a bustling reception cafe with plenty of communal seating.

Offerings include introductory bouldering courses, intermediate technique coaching, private tuition, and youth development squads. Regular social climbing nights, fitness workshops, and competitions run throughout the calendar year.

Located on Barrow Road in St Philip's, the centre is a 10-minute walk from Lawrence Hill train station. Limited on-site parking is available, along with secure indoor bicycle racks.
Matériel & Pro-Shop
Climbing shoe hire and chalk bags are available at reception. The on-site pro shop stocks climbing shoes, chalk, brushes, finger tape, and bouldering apparel.
