Portsmouth High School Tennis Courts

The Portsmouth High School Tennis Courts serve as a central venue for outdoor tennis in coastal Rockingham County. Located on the high school campus off Summit Avenue, the complex features well-maintained outdoor hard courts dedicated to the Portsmouth Clippers athletic program. Outside of high school practices, interscholastic matches, and district athletic events, the courts welcome local residents on a first-come, first-served basis. The acrylic hard-court surface offers a true, medium-paced ball bounce suitable for singles baseline exchanges and fast-paced doubles play. Sturdy chain-link fencing surrounds the layout to control errant balls, while adjacent grassy areas provide space to stretch before hitting. Because the facility operates within an active public school environment, community access is restricted during standard school hours and team competitions, making late afternoons, weekends, and summer months the prime windows for recreational tennis.
