Built inside a former quarry near Newbridge, the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA) Ratho is Europe's largest indoor climbing venue. Run by Edinburgh Leisure, the arena features hundreds of lead and top-rope routes on walls reaching up to 28 metres, alongside dedicated bouldering rooms, speed climbing lanes, and auto-belay lines. Natural daylight floods the colossal arena floor through its translucent roof, creating an authentic outdoor atmosphere sheltered from Scottish weather. Climbers of all disciplines gather here, from local boulderers and youth development squads to elite international competitors. Beyond the climbing walls, visitors have access to a fully equipped fitness gym, a soft play area for families, and an on-site café overlooking the quarry wall. Sessions can be booked online via Edinburgh Leisure's booking system, with casual day passes, multi-visit passes, and monthly memberships readily available.
