Walker Park holds a historic place in American sports lore as the site where Mary Ewing Outerbridge introduced lawn tennis to the United States in the 1870s. Today, this Staten Island landmark in Randall Manor continues its athletic tradition with six dedicated outdoor hard tennis courts. Managed by NYC Parks, the facility serves neighborhood players, local amateur leagues, and recreational enthusiasts from April through November. The court atmosphere is laid-back and focused on community play, regularly hosting competitive singles matches and morning doubles sessions. Courts feature standard regulation markings, robust netting, and perimeter fencing. Access requires an official NYC Parks seasonal tennis permit or single-play pass during operating months. Shaded by mature trees and anchored by a classic park field house, Walker Park remains a central hub for outdoor tennis on Staten Island's North Shore.
