The Climbing Works

Founded in 2006 on Little London Road, The Climbing Works stands as a cornerstone of Sheffield's climbing scene. Spanning multiple industrial units, the venue is dedicated entirely to bouldering, offering hundreds of problem circuits reset weekly across varied angles—from technical slabs to steep roofs. Climbing surfaces are lined with continuous high-density safety matting, with wall profiles featuring textured holds, wooden volumes, and dedicated training setups including campus boards and system walls. The venue comprises the main hall, the Unit E competition zone, and the Mini Works, tailored for younger climbers and foundational practice. The atmosphere is grounded and community-driven, attracting both local gritstone regulars and international competitors. Sessions operate on a walk-in basis for registered boulderers, while newcomers can book induction courses or register online before arriving. Off the mats, climbers gather at the cafe for espresso, local snacks, and route beta.
