Recreation & Wellness Center Climbing Gym

Located inside the University of Minnesota's Recreation and Wellness Center on the East Bank campus, the Climbing Gym serves university students, faculty, and the broader Twin Cities climbing community. The facility features expansive indoor vertical terrain, including dedicated top-rope routes, lead climbing lanes, and a comprehensive bouldering cave with problems reset on a regular rotation by route setters. Textured climbing surfaces accommodate varied grades, ranging from introductory 5.6 ascents and V0 boulder problems up to technical 5.13s and advanced boulder lines. The atmosphere is collaborative and training-focused, bringing together collegiate athletes, local enthusiasts, and newcomers. Facility entry is managed through RecWell day passes, multi-visit punch cards, and semester memberships, with quick check-ins available after completing the mandatory on-site safety orientation.
