The Foundry Climbing Centre

Opened in 1991 as the UK's first dedicated indoor climbing centre, The Foundry remains an essential hub for the Sheffield climbing community. Located in an industrial former steel building in Neepsend, the centre features extensive lead and top-rope walls reaching up to 13 metres, along with varied bouldering areas reset regularly. Graded routes cover technical slabs, sustained vertical faces, and steep overhanging geometry. The atmosphere is unpretentious and focused on performance and progression, supported by comprehensive training facilities including fingerboards, campus boards, and system boards. Regular visitors and day climbers can check in directly at reception, with online registration available for introductory sessions, youth squads, and technique workshops. It provides a reliable year-round training ground in the heart of Britain's climbing capital.
