BaseCamp Climbing Gym

BaseCamp Climbing Gym anchors the downtown Reno climbing community from its base at the Whitney Peak Hotel. The facility is internationally recognized for its 164-foot outdoor climbing wall—the tallest artificial climbing wall in the world—scaling the hotel exterior with direct views of the iconic Reno Arch. Inside, climbers find a 7,000-square-foot bouldering area featuring diverse wall angles, slab, overhangs, and dedicated training equipment including campus boards and system walls. Routes are reset on a regular rotation by experienced setters to ensure fresh challenges across all difficulty grades. The facility welcomes day-pass visitors, student passes, and monthly members. Check-in is handled at the front desk, where visitors complete waivers, obtain equipment, and take quick belay or bouldering safety orientations before hitting the walls.
